Interfacing Interlining - knitsewcraft.co.uk online store

Fabric interfacing, is not a very exciting product, but it is an extremely useful one! Good quality interfacing is quick and easy to use. Interfacing is a third layer of fabric applied between two other layers to provide shape, stability and structure to garments, selvedges and handmade fabric/knitted bags, and to enhance durability. It is used in buttonhole areas to keep them from stretching and distorting, in collars and cuffs to add crispness, and in handmade bags/facings to give stability. In dressmaking, it allows the garment to retain the shape that is built in during the construction process. Interfacings can be either fusible (iron-on) or non-fusible/sewn-in (sew in), and are available in different weights: light, medium and heavy.  Our interfacing is available in black, white and charcoal grey. If you are using special fabrics, such as highly textured, open weave lace/mesh, metallic, seersucker, sequinned, velvet, fur, beaded, or vinyl, the best option is a sew-in interlining. Applying fusible interfacing requires a little patience and is generally regarded as an easier choice for beginners than the non-fusible version. If you need guidance for using this essential product, we have put together some useful information on interfacing, in the Hints and Tips page of our website
