What needles can I use for knitting blanket? Either an Afghan hook/Tunisian hook, or a circular knitting needle. We stock long Tunisian crochet hooks (Afghan hooks) manufactured by Prym. The needle length is 30cm/12" and is made from metal. Long crochet hooks are used for Tunisian crochet to create Afghan blankets/throws, sweaters, scarves, hats, cuff bracelets, crocheted belts and neck warmers, and cro-tatting intricate lace work. Tunisian crochet is similar to knitting. The difference between standard crochet and Tunisian crochet is that the work is never turned. The Prym Tunisian hook has a crochet hook on one end and the long body of a knitting needle with a stopper at the other end.
